Philosophy of Faith

We are holistic creatures - The relationships between our bodies, emotions, intellect, priorities, experiences, memories, beliefs, health, faith, behaviors, and reactions are all symbiotic.

Faith is intrinsic and available to us all - As Pierre Tielhard de Chardin said, “We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a physical experience.” While we almost always need someone to help us make sense of and build a spiritual life that is useful, you do not need someone else to tell you what the experience is like for you; you are having it already!

Relationships matter - Whether ancient, past, or present, whether through scripture, sequoias, or social media, it is essential to have mirrors to show us the way, to share their own journeys and insights. These relationships serve as a mirror, helping us to hone the Truth within ourselves and our own experiences.

Original blessing - We were all created holy and beautiful, including if we are disabled or differently abled, or live with chronic illness…regardless of our race, gender, sexual orientation... All of it is holy. All of it is a vehicle to experience the goodness of God.

Faith Develops in Stages - The way the human mind and psyche develops means that we are created to continuously grow deeper and deeper in understanding. Yes, many modern churches tend to convey faith as something that can be simply “acquired”. However, in order to be useful in our lives, faith and spirituality must be an ever deepening journey of learning…and struggling, doubting and questioning. (And if you currently feel that you “don’t need faith or spirituality,” that’s okay too…it’s one of the stages!)

Eternal Life, Now - A spiritual life is not about eternal fire insurance, or belonging to the right club. Instead, its about abundant life starting right now. In the present moment. Now. and Now. and Now. The Kingdom of God is at hand….for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Some call it Enlightenment, others call it Heaven or Nirvana. As Joseph Campbell said, “Eternity is neither the past or the future. It is the dimension of human spirit which is eternal.”

Resurrection Happens - More than a historical statement, this is a tenet of metaphysical, spiritual, natural, and ontological law.
